Animal Chiropractic is an alternative drugless method of animal health care. Please keep in mind that chiropractic is not a replacement for traditional veterinary medicine but works extremely well with it.
Chiropractors have been helping people officially since 1895 when the first adjustment was documented by a Canadian named DD Palmer which restored the hearing in his first patient. Now people see chiropractors to alleviate their back pain, to increase their energy, improve their sport performance and increase their resistance to disease among other specific conditions.
Everyone knows that the body is controlled by the central nervous system. This system consists of the brain and the spinal cord. Due to its’ extreme importance the design of the body incases this master system in bone to protect it, this is the skull and the spinal vertebrae. In order to get information to the rest of the body for everyday and special activities the spinal vertebrae are separated by spacers called intervertebral discs and this allows for the spinal cord to give off a nerve and exit the spinal column. This nerve has three parts to it. One part will go to muscle, one part to an internal organ and the other part to the skin and vascular (arteries and veins) supply. This nerve also has a specific pathway to give the parts of the body information from the brain and a pathway returning to the brain for feedback. This pathway starts at the vertebral column then has to travel through and/or around muscle, internal organs and bone to get to its target. If there is any interference on this pathway then altered information will be given to its’ target and likewise returning information back to the brain will be altered. So the brain will send more information which will be altered again from the interference and so on and so on in a vicious cycle until the interference is removed.
Over the last 100 years, the science of chiropractic has discovered that a misalignment of joints in the body or a fixation/restriction of movement within the joints normal range of motion, especially in the vertebral joints, can cause restriction on the nerve pathways. Chiropractors call this restriction a subluxation and help the patient by removing it and its’ interference on the nervous system. Chiropractors remove the subluxation and thus restore the natural function of the nervous system by the chiropractic adjustment. The adjustment is a quick controlled thrust by the hand in the direction to restore proper alignment in the animal thus reducing the interference and allow the animals’ own innate intelligence to flow freely again. The power that made the body, heals the body.
